Heading from Granite Bay on July 27th and planning to return on August 18th, we have 21 days and nights to explore Interstate 80 until we arrive at Buffalo, then we head south to Bob Jones University to pick up Sam's car and grad school stuff, then we head to Orlando where Sam starts her 5 month internship...we simply need to arrive in Orlando on August 10th by 1pm for her to check in. And then we need to return by midnight August 18th so we can pick up Dan from his return trip from Barcelona at SFO.
On our way East, we plan to see our beloved neighbors, Bill and Pat Gross, Peggy's cousins Ken and George, all our college buddies in New York, New Jersey and New England, Peg's cousin Scott in Baltimore, her sister, Kathy, and my brother, Neil, in Florida and Stu and Lauren, other great college friends, in Florida.
On our return West we hope to enjoy Sean and Sera Groark in Pensacola, Robert and Allison Heinrich in Texas and my folks in las Vegas.
A few hiccups like a flat tire and a late start, and we were finally off at 10am.... IPOD loaded and Headphone splitters are a must in a convetible!
Food pictures are great...especially the chili relleno...that would have been my choice...well, a second to the leatherby's...pictures of mexican food do provide a lot of beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteHave a great, safe trip.
Hi Gary and Peggy, If you're going through the NE area, you should try a Runza! It's a meat and cabbage and onion mixture inside a homemade bread
ReplyDeleteroll. Yummy! One of my favorite "perfect bites". :) Also, my favorite pizza is Valentino's Pizza which began in Lincoln in Big Red central district -(U of N). Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I'm sure it may have had something to do with fond memories of my growing up years and all, but it remained a favorite place to go every time I went back home. For good homemade icecream, again, U of N ag college has a dairy on campus where they make their own delectable concoctions..and sell NE cheeses and sausage as well. Conveniently located near the original Valentino's Pizza place. Enjoy if you can! :p (this is Cheryl..not Dennis)
Glad I am finally there in the car with you. I am a bit concerned you may gain 20 pounds on the trip. Keep exercising. A few Gubitz "hikes" should do the trick.
ReplyDeletelove to you all.
Jim
Christine, The chili relleno was the best choice from all the meals (of course Peggy would have selected the mole...as it was a delicious combination of like 83 ingredients, which, with her finger circling the outside of her lips, she was able to name 82 of them.)
ReplyDeleteCheryl, we are staying in a town with a Runza Restaurant...we'll miss this one, but perhaps we can hit the college for some ice cream??? Thanks for the tips.
Jim, perceptive Jim, yes we have gained 10 lbs just in the last 2 days...exercise is hard to come by on the driving days...we'll have to see about some hikes...great reminder!
haha i LOVE the dump o meter. i almost just laughed out loud!
