Day 2....Salt Lake to Middle of Nebraska

What a wonderful meal last night at the Red Iguana...and now on the road by 7:30am trying to make it to Nebraska. Most of the day was sunny with puffy clouds...and at 75 mph speed limit, miles flew by..
At 7000 feet we reached the Continental Divide...the temperature stayed under 70 and the convertible top stayed up!
Chowhound and some folks at a coffee shop both recommended Su Casa in Sinclair Wyoming. As small as the Squeeze Inn and the Mexican Food was tasty...and Tuesday's are Pork days...$2.85 for a shredded pork burrito...Isaiah was our waiter!
Pork Burritos, Chimichanga and smothered taco...great spot in the middle of stinkin' nowhere...
Sam is carrying the "Cotton Rag" from ADFAC and the rag needed to be seen at Su Casa???
Stu would probably have stopped at the world headquarters for Cabelas...Yesterday we actually stopped at Sheel's in Sparks Nevada...supposedly the largest sports emporium in the country. They had cool fish swimming above the aisles, but other than that...just a store. I suspect Stu would disagree on all accounts.
Then we arrived at Bella Italia in the town of Cozad Nebraska. Exactly on the 100th meridian and in the dead middle of the USA, we came to this restaurant through the Chowhound website recommendations...as the chef is well known from around the world...and we were not disappointed.
Of course, we found an Amador Montevina Barbera on the list....
You'll see the photo stating that Rudy Guiliano thinks this chef is awesome, and by the taste of his food, I think Rudy was right!
From the home made rolls...
to the amazingly fresh caprese salad, with a balsamic reduction to die for...
the classic spaghetti and meatballs also ranked among the best...
risotto with chicken didn't last long either...
and last but not least...well you can probably tell by looking at the photo that this was one of the best cannolis ever!
Day 2 ended with a wonderfully relaxing meal...and so 12 hours into the drive for the second day in a row we are ready to call it a day...and a great day at that! Ciao for now!!!

  1. I want to hear about the mediocre and BAD meals too. It is starting to sound like you LOVE any food they put in front of you! :)
