Day 18: Everythiing IS Bigger in Texas!

Alright, so Cowboy Steaks are huge...if you click on this picture, you'll see the small quarter resting on one of the pieces of meat. There are a few pictures later that have the actual meal, prepared by Robbie and Allison Heinrich...brand new parents....Everett is 1 month old. But let's start as we departed from a small town called Dayton, Texas...making our way up north from east of Houston to Fort Worth..
This pickup, like many others in the Texas area, barely outnumber the churches you see on every corner. It was great to smile and wave and enjoy everyone as they passed by, knowing they also love the Lord!
Sam Houston at 75 miles per hour...he's about 40 feet tall just off the freeway...Peggy showing off her speed and coordination to get this before we passed by...congrats...she must be getting some of the Gubitz genes through osmosis...
Woody's had signs for 50 miles proclaiming their excellent barbecue and jerky...It was tasty...
an of course they sell all over the world...Nick...there's some barbecue garlic coming home to you my brother!
When we arrived at the Heinrichs in Fort Worth, we were greeted by Sophie and Heidi...boxers with ridiculously large tongues (Texas Boxers)...beautiful animals...
Allison's mom, Betsy, provides joy and needed respites with Everett...She lives within 15 minutes of her grandson...she's tired, but she is smiling big time!
Peggy got her paws on Everett the minute we entered the house and has not put him down since. It is now 4 hours later and he is resting on her looking at the ceiling...both of them experiencing perfect peace...
5 for dinner, 5 Cowboy Steaks, 5 tons of leftovers! Again the quarter gives perspective on size...and you can clearly see the expertise Robbie brings to the grill...kinda like dad...
This corn, pancetta and bread crumb side dish was perfect...
Had to take this picture of brother and sister, Robbie and Megan, just because they slightly (right) reminded me of their parents, Jon and Ann. Great smiles and they are loving life in Texas. What a joy to join them and we need to pray for Robbie to successfully complete his Fireman's training and for a clearly God-directed new career launch.
We love you guys...remember to take the survey at the start of the blog...I would love your input. Perhaps in a day or two I'll be asking for you favorite food from the photos you've seen... but until then...may the Lord shine His face upon you...

  1. The size of the steaks...wow...

How great that you've had people across the country, both ways, who you could stay with. Great reunions.

Excited that Sam...although this wasn't in your blog, it was on her facebook...has gotten the dream job...Jungle Cruise. Not sure if she is a line person or on a boat, but what a great start to an amazing internship at Disney.

    Keep on convertiblin'
