Okay, so departing from Buffalo, we had 2 critical priorities....1) get the Cotton Rag on a Buffalo's horn. Don't tell Jim or Christine that Sam's ADFAC group (this stands for Adventure Faculty) sends this cotton rag around the world whenever anyone travels...and this custom has been in process for perhaps 10 years...

Priority 2: Go back to Ted's Hot Dogs...and take another Rag photo...but really, get some more Hot dogs!!!

Everyone needs a few more hot dog and onion ring photos...notice the double spicy sauce...covering the crispy perfection...

We then started heading to Bill and pat
Gross's house in
Conneaut Ohio, and along the way, we had the privilege of visiting Peggy's cousin, George and Sally
Todaro. George personally visited Peggy's mom every week for 10 years...he is an angel! Both of them still go to care facilities and put on clown shows...She's LUNA and he's TIC...and they are the ...you get it...

Excitedly we pulled up to Bill and Pat's lake front condo in
Conneaut, Ohio. They've been here for a month, and the place is museum perfect! Of course...

Norm and Faye Gross joined us for an amazing dinner...

Caught by Bill's brother Tim and his dad. Here Tim is with Martha...sweethearts to the core!

And the fresh lake perch. The traditional preparation requires a light batter, deep fried and then sandwiched up with tartar sauce or ketchup. You can not talk down about Ketchup or they run you out of town... This is what was left after the 40 perch
filets at the start.

Bill and P
at's back deck is right on the grass leading to the water...a lovely sunset was on its way...

The dog Cody gets his turn near the water...

and as the sunsets, we are enjoying live music from the community center and fireflies glowing in the grass...

Deep in thought...or...pondering the quality of Erie County Cab Franc ...
hmmm...

At
sunset, the hordes of birds return...for 30 minutes the grackles(blackbirds) cover the sky...

And the day ends blissfully...sunset, no humidity, slight breeze, 75 degrees, Tiger winning the golf tournament and a bucket of fried perch in the tummy. Tomorrow we plan to relax in and around
Conneaut, enjoying our dear friends!!!
Nighty night!!!
Well. Great day for you. Great day for us.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord blessed us with a great sermon today on 1 Peter 3:1-6.
I took one of my YB friends up to Amador.
Stop 1: Scott Harvey. No Paulette.
Stop 2: Jeff Rundquist. They do it right. Picked up my July shipment.
Stop 3: Cooper. We had a great time talking with one of the Cooper daughters. It was all so good I couldn't resist the 35% off the case futures on the 07 BARBERA. Tell Peggy I was planning to split it with her. No fantastic price point but ummmmmmmmmmmm the flavor!
Stop 4: Miraflores. Steve offered me his tickets for the futures event. The paella was great, but by then I was wined-out. Picked up Steve's meritage futures.
A great day, but it's never the same without you guys.
Miss you.
Any reason why they couldn't come up with something more creative than "Cotton Rag"? Or does it have a significance I am missing? :)
ReplyDeleteWas their first attempt: "piece of cloth"?
ReplyDeleteGreat, great, great....love the Ted's for breakfast...that's what I kinda got off of Sam's post of facebook...
ReplyDeleteGlad to finally know what ABCDE stands for...cotton rags unit!!!!
Sermon was great today...you'll have to get the cd when you get back...Wayne does such a marvelous job.
How wonderful that you have this time with the Gross's...so wonderful!
Take care...look forward to tomorrows installment.
Love to all...XXXOOO
Loving the sermon excitement! I'm a bit less thrilled about Wayne's performance in the Scrabble match...his second word was a 112 point "clicquier" that we couldn't recover from...
ReplyDeleteI forgot the biggest excitement yesterday...anniversary 385!!!
MISS YOU TOO
