Day 9: The Grzybek's and ZUKAY Foods!!!

How could we depart the lovely town of Conneaut, Ohio and the company of Bill and PAT without a photo of Cody, their super Sheltie!!!

We finally hit the road and entered Pennsylvania on our way to Elverson...just south of Reading PA, an hour west of Philly...greeting committee...2 swans...
When we arrived at Scott and Cathy Grzybek's house (pronounced Grizbek ala american and Jibek ala Polish), Peggy's cousin, we entered the Revolutionary War era. Their home is verifiably 220 years old, originally owned by John Penn, relative of William, and built just after the War. Amazing place with much of the original wood and stone still in place...
Fireplace and stone where the stucco had been removed...stucco made of plaster and much horse hair :)))
So nice, I show it twice...
This plank shows the actual thickness of the wall...at least 18 inches...
The original floors were in tact throughout the kitchen, living and dining rooms...
And the floor concrete, which used to be the outside door is now the entry to their kitchen. The remodel to add the kitchen and some of the other rooms was fairly recent...completed in 1810!
This barn, also part of their 5 acres is yet to be renovated...which is probably a good thing when it comes to retained value...
This is the side entrance which serves as their front door from the parking area...
Scott and Cathy started and own a live food company that produces fermented, raw salsas, ketchup and salad dressings. Visit www.ZUKAY.com to learn all about their vision and products. Jacob is the 3 year old superstar in the middle.
Jacob is extremely well adjusted to farm and family, and we had a blast making him laugh...right now he's making his poison frog face getting ready to eat my flesh...yeoooowwwww....
Driving through Amish country we enjoyed a leisurely experience....stopping for...
a classic buggy photo as we entered Blue Balls Pennsylvania. We also stopped for some fresh fruit and then we finally arrived at Howie's beautiful lake front house in Wayne, New Jersey...but those photos will be on the next installment. Have a glorious day!
